Teton Gravity Research (TGR) and Jeremy Jones are ramping up for the "Deeper" movie tour, which premieres on September 10 at Truckee's River Amphitheater and then continues onward for 200 showings into the winter months. Hand-picked pro riders will make appearances at some of the bigger gigs, and they'll have giveaways from film sponsors including O'Neill, Recco, Jones Snowboards, Clif Bar and Swatch. 

 

"The 'Deeper' crew put cameras in places and in conditions you could never imagine. It is the ultimate first-hand experience and the most insane riding I have ever seen,' said TGR co-founder, Steve Jones. 

 

According to producers, the film is 100% carbon neutral and a major premise of the project was to explore new terrain without the use of helicopters, snowmobiles and lifts. Jones is the founder of Protect Our Winters (POW), which acts as the environmental center point of the winter sports community. POW's mission is to unite and actively engage the global snow sports community to lead the fight against climate change. 

 

This film is intended to reinforce this mission, as well as lead by example as Jones and team face some of the biggest challenges -and epic conditions- ever encountered in snowboarding. All night hikes. Sleeping on peaks. Camping 65 miles from civilization. 20-below temperatures. 10-day storms. 20-mile days. 

 

"I wanted to get back to solitude, adventure, and new descents," says Jones. "By hiking past boundaries set in place by helis and snowmobiles we were able to get into bigger mountains, away from people and back to first descents."
