Winter is in full bloom throughout Whistler, and the photographers and athletes selected for this year's Deep Winter Photo Challenge are in full production mode. Contenders for the 2011 Arc'teryx Deep Winter Photo Challenge are: 10-year veteran, Ilja Herb; accomplished snowboard photographer, Tim Zimmerman; Whistler local, Blake Jorgenson; outdoor lifestyle photographer, Robin O'Neill; Snowboard Canada Photo Editor, John Scarth; and up and comer, Andrew Strain. Each team is allotted a 72-hour window to capture images for submission and judging at the marquee event on Saturday, January 15. Day one (today) started with 25 cms of new snow, and they're expecting 70cms expected in the following 72 hours. January is often times one of the best times to ski and ride in Whistler because it seldom stops snowing, and the locals will say this is when winter really gets going.
