Role reversal. We frequently ditch our worldly commitments and head whole-heartedly into the wilderness to find peace of mind in solitude. But when that solitude comes to us in the cities we grossly inhabit, it can get creepy. ‘Empty L.A.’ is a haunting visualization of one of the most populated North American cities devoid of its main resource: people. If you’ve ever spent a few hours on the 405 going 3 mph on a hot summer day behind an 18-wheeler, you’ve surely had the same fantasies as Matt Logue. The only difference really, would be the fact you probably don’t have the same visual effects experience as the Los Angeles-based artist, photographer and animator who, after working on the Lord of The Rings Trilogy in New Zealand, has created a visual-essay of sorts based on the premise of a LA without people.
