Filmed and edited by Erik Osterholm, this teaser sets the stage for a forthcoming movie about the Smiley's Project --Mark and Janelle Smiley's attempt to climb all 50 Classic Climbs of North America. In total, they're planning to notch over 164,000 vertical feet on a road trip that will cover over 25,000 miles by the last pitch.
The movie, titled "Committed AK," is set to launch in Summer 2011, and this teaser was shot on location in Alaska at the Ruth Glacier during the Smiley's unsuccessful summit of #5 on the list, the West Ridge of Moose's Tooth.
From their journal on August 12, 2010: "We made it to 100 feet below the West Summit. Snow conditions were horrible, and we didn't feel like falling through a cornice to our death, so we bailed. We will have to return soon."
