Celebrating 10 years as the action sport's boutique independent film festival, X-Dance proved once again that these endemic film productions have evolved well beyond that of porn.
Including films on skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, mountain biking, climbing, mountaineering, sky diving and kayaking, X-Dance has always been about freedom of expression.
Scheduled around Sundance, and once hosted amongst the glam in Park City, the festival has since evolved into it's own headlining entity. Whether showcasing 45-second shorts or feature-length films, downtown Salt Lake City's Off-Broadway Theater recently played host to 40 films during a week-long gathering of the industry's finest.
We caught the final screenings of the event, on the night before the infamous awards ceremony. Only 39 more to watch, and we highly recommend Fiberglass and Megapixels.
The Hoffman brothers lined-up an all-star crew of photographers, cinematographers and surfers to tell an exciting, behind the scenes story. Camera's turned on themselves, this full length documentary exposes what it takes to be a surf photographer and cinematographer on the epic North Shore of Oahu. The film took home the award for Best Editing.
