Teva kayak athlete Rush Sturges has paddling in his DNA. Born to the owners of Otter Bar Lodge, a kayak school on the Salmon River, Rush grew up in boats. But if some people could have predicted he’d be a good kayaker, no one could’ve predicted just how good he’d be. At 27, he’s already bordering on legendary status in the paddling world. Whether it’s through his ability to huck himself off huge waterfalls, dominate freestyle comps, or produce some of the best kayaking films in the world through his production company, River Roots, Rush has certainly cemented his place in kayaking lore. At the very least, he’s the best kayaker/rapper hybrid in the game. Oh, we didn’t mention that? Yeah, he raps too.
