For a spontaneous getaway in search of surf, Puerto Rico should be on your radar for November.

It's no secret, especially for most East Coast surfers, that Puerto Rico is holding in the winter months. It's been called the Atlantic version of Hawaii and the comparison is valid when a northerly swell slams the coast and coincides with light tradewinds.

November through March holds the most consistent surf and, although November is a bit early in the season and typically not as consistently large as January/February, the opportunity for solid, early season swells certainly exists.
