The Vecom Crew is mainly around filmer and director Mathias Lopez. For the JOB-Segment Jean Baptiste Merendet helped a lot to develop the matrix effect set up. He was also part of most of the shootings.
Mathias is a film maker specialized in action sports movies. He’s been doing this for 7 years as a professional what enables him to combine his passion for the mountains and extreme sports with his other passion: the image (in motion in particular).
MOTIVATION:
It’s an amazing opportunity to be asked to show the best you´re able to do and having almost unlimited freedom to do so.
To face the challenge and to make the most out of it, I decided to create something very special for this movie. I developed a light weight bullet time set up with 40 Contour cameras.
It’s a system that enables you to freeze the action and move inside the image the same time! You maybe know this from the Matrix movies, but it’s pretty unique to have such a setup on top of a mountain, the side of a halfpipe or on a kicker.
It’s a lot of work and takes hours to film and then to edit it. But due to the originality it gave to the segment, it sometimes pays out to go the long road and take the risk.
