In a world filled with madness, it is only natural that there be places where the people with severe issues go and reside. Travel through over 70 U.S. mental institutions in 30 states from the comfort of your own home with a copy of Asylum: Inside the Closed World of State Mental Hospitals. Its pages are filled with the phenomenal photography of Christopher Payne and an essay written by Oliver Sacks that are going to leave you with nothing but awe and wonder. With such magnificent documentation of the crumbling nut houses that once housed our countries “insane”, who knows you might even feel the need to go and visit a few.
